Title to, and ownership of, all wine passes from seller to buyer in the State in which the sale occurs (District of Columbia), and buyer takes all responsibility for the wine being transported from the state of sale to the buyers selected destination. Alternatively, buyer may choose to pick up the wine at seller’s location or make independent delivery arrangements. Sales tax will be applied based on the seller’s location (D.C.) unless there is a nexus. Seller makes no representation as to the legal rights of anyone to deliver or import any wines, alcoholic beverages or other goods into any state.

This legally permitted method of doing business involves the following steps: wine title legally transfers in District of Columbia, where the goods are sold, customer pays D.C. alcohol and sales tax, TLP files tax reports in accordance with District of Columbia law, and the bill of lading shows the customer as the party directing the delivery.
